Pre-Drywall Walk through already!!!

We had our pre-drywall walk through today and boy am I glad we did! Everything has been moving so fast I have not had time to keep up with the blog. On to the walk through.... we were walking through the house and our PM was pointing out everything and he gets to the kitchen and he goes "here is the electric for your cook top" and I go "oh no we selected gas".  He was like "wait a minute I might have to send you to the SR on this one because all of my paperwork says electric cook top" I said "that's fine I know I selected Gas because I prefer to cook with gas and it was one of the first, if not the first option we choose".

Long story short; I was right and he called the tech in front of me to tell him to come install the line. That was cleared up then we get up stairs to the laundry room. I don't see a rough-in for the wash tub so I'm like "I think we are supposed to have a wash tub." He checks the paperwork and called the plumber right then and there to fix it. As much time as we took to make sure we got evertyhing we wanted/needed in this house. I know the options like the back of my hand like I am sure all of you do. I don't think anyone takes this proces lightly. My advise is to show up on your site often and ask questions.

Overall everything has been going great and our PM is on top of things as soon as they come up. I was very close to opting out of the pre-drywall walk through and I am so glad I did it otherwise, I know it would have been much more difficult to fix the gas and the plumbing issues.

Up next:
Insulation tomorrow
Energy Star inspection Friday
Drywall next week
Siding/Stone after drywall goes up.

  1. I am glad everything worked out and was resolved so quickly! I hope the process continues to go this smoothly. :) I have a question for you, what is the benefit of having a wash tub? I saw that as an option but wasn’t sure exactly what it was. Lol

    1. Thanks, me too. I will use it primarily to wash hand wash only sweaters and blouses. It is also useful if you need to scrub stains out before you wash. I have little kids so there are always accidents.

  2. You are really on top of things this is some good advice and thank goodness he was able to make a few calls and get those things handled! I agree with you I can only use gas too and sharp eye on the washtub. Sounds like your build is going quickly.

  3. Good thing you know your options like the back of your hand! I think I'll be going paper-in-hand with the list of options we selected. Glad to hear everything else is moving along.

    1. If I were you I would do that too. The PM does there best but if your neighborhood is like ours they are building like five or six house all at the same time. They are bond to forget something somewhere for somebody. I think its my job as the home owner to do what I can to make sure it's not me. lol

  7. Can you believe you're at drywall already? Getting things fixed is always a relief - glad PM was able to get that done for you.

I've had a couple of issues with PM last week, but he made up for it this week. I think we'll work together fine (at least he knows know I'll be ON it).

We originally had the washtub, but took it off our contract at the last minute - now I'm totally regretting it, it would be great for hand washing laundry and washing things like refrigerator shelves!

Oh, and thanks for your comment on my blog about calling the insulation company - I have a call in to them for a quote to have them do mine. Very much appreciated!

Your home on the outside is looking beautiful!
